Our Levels
Brazil Ahead's program has been carefully developed to help students converse from
day 1. Below you will find the goals students are expected to achieve in each level.
Start Ahead - Elementary (40 hours)
- Communicate in basic situations: greetings, initial interactions, asking for information;
- Understand everyday situations, including the intercultural aspects of communication;
- Recognize and reproduce/produce the basic structure of the Portuguese Language as it is spoken in Brazil.
Focus Ahead - Intermediate (40 hours)
- Interact with native speakers of Portuguese with more ease, negotiate everyday situations and relate to others more fluently;
- Participate in discussions, debates, express ideas and opinions on current themes;
- Broaden the linguistic knowledge in verb tenses and modes, pronouns, conjunctions;
- Expand on the linguistic skills in listening and reading comprehension, oral and written production as well as cultural awareness.
Way Ahead - Advanced (40 hours)
- Discuss broad issues in both concrete and abstract levels;
- Have heightened awareness of own mistakes and make use of self correction;
- Broaden linguistic skills;
- In depth command of the language structure;
- Research and discuss all aspects of Brazilian history and culture;
- Preparation for the exam of Portuguese as second language required for admission to Brazilian universities.
